MITCHELL — The Mitchell High School speech and debate teams placed in several categories at two recent events in Sioux Falls and Watertown recently. The teams competed at both the Sioux Falls Lincoln High School Silver Bowl Jan. 13 and 14 as well as the Speech Fiesta at Watertown High School in Watertown Jan. 20 and 21.
Mitchell High School team results from Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Silver Bowl:
- Kate Ahlers – 1st in Novice Extemp
- Alexis Korzan – 6th in U.S. Extemp
- Shawn Boehmer – 4th in U.S. Extemp
- Kate Ahlers – 2nd in Novice Oratory
- Serenity Hollins – 3rd in Program Oral Interp
Mitchell High School team results from the Watertown High School Speech Fiesta:
- Julia Miller – Outstanding Presiding Officer in Student Congress
- Kennedy Lofgren – Outstanding Presiding Officer in Student Congress
- Shawn Boehmer – 2nd in U.S. Extemp
- Alexis Korzan – Finalist in U.S. Extemp
- Serenity Hollins – 3rd in Program Oral Interp
- Chloe Bartunek – Finalist in Program Oral Interp
- Destiny Barnett – Finalist in Novice Oratory
The Mitchell team will next head to Yankton Friday, Jan. 27 for the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
